Maximum Acceptable Outage. The duration after which an organization’s viability will be threatened if an IT system or service cannot be resumed. Editor’s Note: Mainly suitable for IT Disaster Recovery Planning. Popular in Australia and to a lesser extent in the US. Rarely used in Europe.
