Maurer-Lambrou, Urs
Urs Maurer-Lambrou practices corporate and finance law, with a particular focus on mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and other corporate transactions in a wide variety of industries. He also assists clients with respect to structures in the financial sector, international commercial agreements, Swiss regulatory issues and data protection law.
Urs has been involved in many cross-border transactions and he often advises on matters involving the EU, USA, Russia and other CIS countries. He regularly represents multinational companies investing in Switzerland and other European countries, especially Greece. He also advises public sector clients, including Swiss federal, cantonal and other governmental authorities.
Urs is the editor and co-author of the leading Swiss commentary on data protection. Urs advises various companies on GDPR projects.
Urs has received a law degree from the University of Berne (Switzerland) and is admitted to the Swiss bar as well as to the bar of the State of New York. After completion of his Swiss law degree he joined the Swiss Federal Department of Justice as an advisor. Afterwards he studied at the Duke University School of Law in the USA and received his LL.M. in law. Upon his return to Switzerland Urs practiced in one of the major Swiss law firms before becoming a partner in a medium sized firm in Zurich. In 2000 he founded Maurer Law Offices, with an office Baar, Zug and is the owner of two consulting companies.
Urs is a board member of a number of Swiss companies. He is also an official Swiss-U.S. Privacy Shield arbitrator selected by U.S. Department of Commerce and Swiss Administration.
Urs is fluent in German, English and French.
